Nielsen Homescan rewards its members each time they scan their purchases with their purchase information then being electronically transferred to Nielsen. Users can login to their accounts and see that their transmissions have been credited with points in their account.

Earn Great Merchandise
These points can be redeemed for a great assortment of products from the Nielson Homescan gift catalogue which include household items, electronics, toys, jewelry and more. The more a member scans their with the scanner, the more points they are eligible to earn and the more products they can receive. Periodic draws for cash and prizes are also offered to members, as a bonus thank-you for participating.

Members also automatically earn entries into monthly cash sweepstakes and are sent free gifts simply for engaging in the Homescan programme.

Scan Your Purchases Using Your Free Scanner
Users can use their handheld scanner anytime they wish and can do so by simply scanning the barcode off new purchases.

When the scanner is used, once a week it will transmit the data to Nielsen. This is done via a telephone or Internet and is transmitted anonymously to Nielsen. The data is then aggregated with data from other participants in the program and shared with manufacturers for market research purposes.

The scanner is shipped to new users for free and includes a prepaid return envelope for those who no longer wish to be part of the programme.

To become a member of the programme is quick and easy. Simply complete the online registration form with your details and if you are selected to join and if selected, you will be mailed a free barcode scanner. After you come home from going shopping, simply scan your groceries and other purchases as you put them away. Once a week your scanner will automatically transmit your purchase information anonymously to Nielson. Participating in the program lets you earn points which can then be redeemed for great merchandise.
